Corps Memorial Weekend (CMW) and <\/strong><\/p>\n

Branch Standard with Presidents Award<\/p><\/div>\n

The branch management made a pilgrimage to the\u00a0corps memorial weekend at Brompton Barracks\u00a0on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of\u00a0September.<\/p>\n

On the\u00a0Friday evening Regimental Sergeant Major Crossen, 1RSME his senior NCOs, Soldiers and Civilian Mess staff made REA Members from all over the UK most welcome in the WO’s and Sgt’s mess.<\/p>\n

The evening had an air of excellence about it as the Band of the\u00a0Medway Branch entertained us for the evening with a\u00a0very professional and well played concert.<\/p>\n

The weekend had a full and varied program of events.<\/p>\n

One of the main purposes of attending the CMW was to hold our AGM and for Tom Milne to parade the branch standard at the memorial service.<\/p>\n

Branch Annual General Meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the AGM we were both delighted and surprised to be joined by Dave Barker, who normally lives in Florida. \u00a0Dave is\u00a0a founder member of the branch and while serving started the RE Radio Society.<\/p>\n

Presidents Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

The photo below shows the presidents award being\u00a0presented to Stuart Dixon, the branch secretary for his work re-designing the website and transforming the branch.<\/p>\n

\"SAMSUNG\"Stuart Said “It was an honour to receive this award, there were very few people who had received it during its lifetime. \u00a0I\u00a0look forward to seeing it presented again\u00a0in a year, perhaps to a\u00a0newer member of the branch.”<\/p>\n

During the AGM a\u00a0vote of thanks was given to Maj M Bernard BEM RE. \u00a0Spike has done an excellent job\u00a0of\u00a0raising the branch and keeping it going for well over a decade.<\/p>\n

Sapper 300 (<\/strong>1716 – 2016)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"RE300Logo\"<\/a>During the weekend we also picked up details of the celebrations for 300 years of the Corps of Royal Engineers and\u00a0a list of venues, dates and open days where this will be celebrated is tagged onto the minutes of the AGM<\/a> – for planning purposes.<\/p>\n
