\n\"newnet\"<\/a>Our Current Net<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Saturday Morning the net controller calls CQ at around 0730 Hours. \u00a0Stations call in to set up communications. \u00a0 It’s usual to establish communications first on 3.722 Mhz\u00a0and then establish the order in which stations transmit. \u00a0The next round of overs\u00a0comprises weather, location and signal reports (radio checks basically). \u00a0After the last station reports the net controller initiates another round of overs – stations go in the order decided.<\/p>\n

In this over we usually present\u00a0some views of our various projects or branch matters and anything goes within the terms of the licence. \u00a0We may make several overs.<\/p>\n

(It helps to plan what you are going to say to keep it brief and to the point.)<\/p>\n

The net controller can decide whether to\u00a0close down the net or\u00a0QSY (change frequency)\u00a0to 60M on 5.371.5Mhz. \u00a0(If QSY and that frequency is\u00a0occupied we usually have a second or guard channel – See here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

(You can find various recording of the net on various days throughout this site.)<\/p>\n

On 60m\u00a0we listen out for both amateur and military<\/strong> call signs\u00a0and exchange contact details,\u00a0do radio checks and various experiments before closing down.<\/p>\n

New callers<\/strong><\/p>\n

New callers must first call in and prove comms with the net controller. \u00a0Also each other station on net will want to exchange contact details for QSL purposes.<\/p>\n

Becoming a regular.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After your first call in you may want to think about becoming a regular caller. \u00a0This helps us to perfect our radio stations, keep our gear in good condition and tuned up.<\/p>\n

Wot no sixty meters?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t TX on 60m then it you have the option to listen and report via G3RE at QRZ.com<\/a>\u00a0or QSL or send emails afterwards. (But see below).<\/p>\n

Listeners<\/strong><\/p>\n

Listeners are welcome to report on all nets. \u00a0On the menu bar above “Listen In” is a link to a web shortwave receiver where you can get excellent “armchair copy”.<\/p>\n

For the future<\/strong><\/p>\n

As there are more than three novice and intermediate\u00a0licensees in the branch – we are actively considering the opening of\u00a0a third frequency on the 40meter band. \u00a0It may be we need a volunteer to run this but it is early days.<\/p>\n
